Emmanuel Whitmarsh worked in Berwick Street, London, 1856-1885, moved to Kentish Town Road in 1885, and to Hackney in 1887. Established at Dalston, 1908, when he had the assistance of his son, Edwin. Emmanuel's violins are London diamonds, powerful, sweet sounding and very well respected by players and makers alike. This violin has an exceptional sound and plays beautifully, one to come and play and (most probably) fall in love with.

The front

The tightly flamed maple back is complemented by the closely grained spruce front. The plates are in immaculate condition for their age. No significant cracks or repairs.

The Setup

We have applied our trademark attention to detail both in sound and vision. This lovely Whitmarsh has a completely new bridge, soundpost and set of Obligato strings. All the fittings, including tailpiece, end pin and pegs are new from the finest ebony. We are really pleased with the sound and the appearance of this English gem.
