As a ‘late starter violinist’, my violin buying journey has, at times, felt a bit intimidating until I came across Stamford Strings.  My recent visit to their new shop to buy a new violin was most enjoyable.  Libby and her team helped me to make my purchase which I am delighted with.  Libby was patient and shared her experience and knowledge openly and without any pressure to buy she encouraged me to take my time over the purchase.  After trying a few instruments, I chose one that instinctively felt right for me.  Libby took her time to ensure the set-up met my needs.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Stamford Strings; their warm and friendly welcome makes any visit an all-round pleasant experience!

I just wanted to thank Cameron for talking his time to help my daughter find her perfect next full size cello bow. We had an appointment pre arranged and when we arrived a great selections of bows within our budget were all ready to be tried. Cameron took his time to allow us to try out each bow in our own time and also offered for us to hear him play to hear exactly what we were choosing from the listeners perspective. My visit to the shop was very pleasant, relaxed and informative. Thank you for all the time and effort you have taken with both me and
Richard in buying our respective instruments, a cello and a viola, from you.
I particularly enjoyed the quiet Saturday afternoon in the shop where I was
allowed to experiment with as many strings, both new and old, as needed
before you helpfully suggested that maybe I should try a different cello in the
same price range. You were absolutely right and it was good to know that you
were quietly listening in the background whilst working on another
instrument.

The shop has an impressive range of string instruments, bows and cases in a
wide price range suitable for beginners and advanced players alike. An
experienced luthier is on hand should any adjustments to the instruments be
necessary. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
You have a lovely, relaxed and gentle way with your customers, never pushy
or impatient which are undoubtedly valuable gifts especially when negotiating
such expensive instruments.

I have been using the Korfler shoulder rest for a few months now and I have been very impressed with the improvement in my violin's sound. It has allowed the sound to open up and sound freer. It is also much lighter than my old shoulder rest so that allows my shoulder more freedom. I love that there are many possibilities with the height and angle so you can find the perfect fit for you.

I recently had a service done on my 1914 Paul Kaul violin after it was sounding a bit life-less. Stamford Strings set up has brought the sound back to life! I am so happy with the improvement in sound, it is much more resonant and ringing. It was just in time for my first time leading Scheherazade and playing the solos and my violin projected much more easily than before.  I also had a problem with a buzz which has now thankfully disappeared.
