About Juliet barker
Juliet Barker was born in Cambridge, UK in 1934. She trained at Mittenwald in the 1950s and worked at Beare's for a short while in 1957 before setting up her own shop in Cambridge. She taught evening classes in violin making from 1960. She specialised in the making of violas, all on her own designed models. She founded Cambridge Violin Makers in 1986 which has a world renowned reputation for teaching violin making. She was awarded an MBE in 2005 for services to music.
