Nicolas Bertolini is a fictional makers name found in large numbers of Mirecourt factory-produced instruments from c.1880. The instruments are of good quality material with a red or golden-brown varnish.
This cello is a particularly fine example, in amazing condition. The cello has undergone a number of significant repairs in our workshop, but none which required removing the plate, with no cracks to repair!
The cello has had a brand new fingerboard cut and fitted and shaped to perfection. All of the peg holes have been bushed and retouched, and new holes reamed to the perfect size an position. The cello then had one of our amazing new unique carbon fibre endpins fitted, and a new bridge and sound post fitted by our expert luthier Carlos Libreros Rios.
The cello has been fitted with Larsen Magnacore C and G strings, and Larsen Soloist A and D strings.
It has a sonorous rich and full bodied tone and is even across the strings. The projection is excellent and the playability is second to none. Having a new fingerboard makes so much difference to a cellist!
The neck stop, which can be problematic for cellists on old cellos is a perfect 280cm and the neck is as smooth and silky as the full moon on a starless night. Back length is a lovely 750cm and the cello has a slim waist making it easy to hold.
In essence, this is mororless the perfect cello and is going to make a cellist very very happy.
