4/4 French Cello, Paris c1880, Geronimo Barnabetti, from the workshop of JÉRÔME THIBOUVILLE-LAMY. This is one of the top J.T.L. models of the time along with the Grandini model. Geronimo Barnabetti was working from 1854 onwards, initially on his own and then is thought to have worked in the Jerome Thibouville Lamy workshops at Mirecourt.
Beautiful deep red varnish, characteristic of the JTL workshop. The front has been retouched in places but the rest of it is original.
The Neck
the set up
