Our Teachers

libby summers

Libby has over 25 years of violin teaching experience; she has taught in primary and secondary schools in London, Surrey, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. During her career, she set up group violin schemes in several different schools, some of whom had no string teaching prior to this and have gone from strength to strength. More recently, Libby has enjoyed teaching privately for the last few years. Libby holds a CTABRSM Certificate in Music Teaching and a Distinction in Grade 8 Violin and piano. Libby enjoys playing chamber music, particularly in string quartets. She is a part of two local quartets which perform from time to time at local events.
Availability
Libby has availability during the day Monday - Friday.
Libby specialises in adult beginners, or adults returning to playing the violin; and young adults or teenagers wanting to continue pursuing their musical passion.

jessica tomey

Jessica is a qualified Music Therapist and violinist, who enjoys playing both classical and traditional styles. Jessica's teaching experience ranges from private violin lessons to running group string classes in New Zealand and coaching orchestras in schools. Jessica has co-facilitated musical workshops in partnership with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and her music therapy experience extends to working with children with emotional, mental and social health needs, alongside communities living with dementia. Jessica holds a BA (1st Class) Hons in Music from the University of York and a Distinction in Grade 8 Violin.

Availability
Jessica offers weekday evenings.
Jessica particularly enjoys teaching beginners and is an advocate for the benefits of group lessons.
