Meet The Maker Event: Kathleen Thomas

We welcome all interested people to this event. You do not have to be string player. An interest in instrument making, music or woodwork is enough!
All the way from Perugia, Italy, maker Kathleen Thomas, graduate of the Newark School of Violin Making, has been working as an expert restorer and maker for the last two decades, firstly in Canada and then Italy. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share, and we are also lucky to have one of her violas for sale in the shop.
This event starts with a Q and A session with Kathleen, which will be recorded and offered as a podcast afterwards (with edits). We invite you to submit your question beforehand (in the note section at checkout) or bring your question on the day.
Coffee and Italian biscuits will be served and you will have the chance to view the shop and chat to other participants.
After coffee, there will be a viola demo by our very own Rachel Spence, viola player and violin making apprentice.
Following this, participants are invited to view the viola, ask further questions and have a try themselves.
If you wish to try the viola out in a private appointment then you can book an afternoon appointment with Kathleen and Rachel after our lunch break from 1.45pm. Please call the shop on 07376919766 to make your appointment. You can also make an appointment for a restoration consultation as Kathleen is an expert restorer as well as maker.
Numbers are limited to 16 for the morning session, so please book early to avoid disappointment!
