About Mark Robinson
Mark Robinson attended the Newark School of Violin Making from 1978 and graduated in 1981 with a distinction. He set up his own workshop in Leicestershire in the same year and made and repaired violins, violas and cellos there. It was shortly after this that Maurice Bouette, who was the director of the Violin making school in Newark , asked him to do some teaching. He took on the position and under the mentorship of Maurice, Glen Collins, Bob Payn and Paul Bowers became a part of the teaching team for the next ten years.
In 1992 Mark was offered a position in the workshop of J & A Beare and took up the position in April of that year. He then spent the next 26 years happily employed restoring instruments until his retirement. He has had the privilege to work on many great instruments and meeting and working with some of the wonderful musicians who came through the door at Beares.
