Filippo Protani Viola, 2024

This is my most favourite viola that I have ever had the privilege of having in the shop. The varnish is utterly glorious and translucent. The making is the culmination of Filippo's career so far, demonstrating how much he is constantly striving and with every instrument he makes, seeking to make it better than the last. 

I am often being asked for small violas with a big enough sound. This viola delivers in all respects. being smaller than most, but having a bigger sound than many of it's larger contemporaries. It's the David against a Goliath. It wins against all odds. 

You have to hear it and see it to believe it so book now to avoid disappointment. This viola is incredibly special, very playable, and just gorgeous to look at and to handle.

The model is Benjamin Banks. It is set up by the maker in Italy and brought over to England and handed over to me in person.
